Child Support Standards Act

The Child Support Standards Act (CSSA) is a federally mandated law that has been enacted in all 50 states. This law mandates that child support payments be paid on the following schedule by the non-custodial parent to the custodial parent.

  • One Child -                 17% gross wages less FICA
  • Two Children -            25% gross wages less FICA
  • Three Children -          29% gross wages less FICA
  • Four Children -            31% gross wages less FICA
  • Five or More Children - minimum 35% gross wages less FICA

In addition to the aforementioned child support obligations, the non-custodial parent must contribute to child care expenses and may have to contribute to health care expenses.
