Custody & Working Mothers in New York

In the year 2016 it is estimated that more than 50% of the women bearing children will be returning to work. Women have much more opportunities today than they had in generations past in the workplace environment. The career mother is replacing the norm of the stay at home wife. The change in mother’s opportunities to go back to work have changed the home environment in many families. Fathers are now spending more time with their children and taking a greater active role in raising them.

Protect Father’s Rights

There is no greater vocation in life than helping raise a child from birth to adulthood. Every child brought into this world has two parents. Under New York State law each parent has equal rights to obtain custody of their children. Fathers who have strong relationships with their children have excellent opportunities today to se successful in obtaining custody of their children or joint custody of their children. Our office advocates for fathers. Mothers have special relationships with their children because they carry their children. However, a child’s relationship with his father is a special relationship which adds to the child’s health and well-being. In an ideal situation, both the mother and the father should be involved in raising the child and holding the child’s best interests in the forefront of their minds.

When presented with cases where the father is the primary caretaker and/or the mother is an inappropriate caretaker, our office will move heaven and earth to help our clients obtain custody and/or joint custody with regard to their children.
